#HOW TO CREATE A KODI THEME SOFTWARE#
Kodi is the software we’ll use to browse into our media center (like Spotify for music).

That’s why I’m writing this short introduction. Most people don’t really know the difference between OSMC and Kodi. In this case, you can skip the next part and go directly to the Kodi guide at the end of this post.
#HOW TO CREATE A KODI THEME INSTALL#
If you want to install Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 4, you need to install Raspberry Pi OS or LibreElec. OSMC doesn’t work on Raspberry Pi 4 or 400 for now. It’s a lightweight distribution, easy to install, which will do the job perfectly. OSMC is a free and open-source distribution, dedicated to media center hosting. To create our media center, we’ll use OSMC as our Linux distribution for this project.

Linux is an operating system (like Windows or macOS) that you can find in several variants (called distributions). The Raspberry Pi runs mainly Linux distributions. You can also travel with it, and then use it at home, at your parents’ home or while traveling, with the same content, whatever the TV you’ll find on your way ^^ OSMC

This time, instead of clicking Get More… as before, you should also see a list of the already installed themes – choose the one you want.Raspberry Pi is the perfect device to turn your old TV into a smart TV or to upgrade your current smart TV with the latest apps for a media center.
#HOW TO CREATE A KODI THEME SKIN#
In order to revert or to switch to a skin you’ve already installed all you have to do is return back into System > Settings > Appearance > Skin, click on the row in the right pane where it also says Skin – How Do I revert / change to a skin I’ve already installed? Tip! you may use both of the followings in order to make a wiser decision: Comparison of skin features, Kodi/XBMC Skins. Now, select Skin from the left side pane (should be selected by default) then click on the row in the right pane where it also says Skin.Ĭlick on Get More… and select any theme you like from the list to the left. Luckily, this feature comes built-in with Kodi so what we actually have to do is navigate (from home-screen) into System > Settings > Appearance. Time to get practical, in order to change the theme we’ll need to select and download a different one. So, if you’re interested in customizing Kodi so it could better suit your daily work-flow and needs – changing the theme might be the best place to start at. Changing Kodi’s theme will not only change the way Kodi looks but may also enhance the overall experience you get from it.įor instance, new themes may sometimes come with a built-in support for playing a selected playlist while browsing Kodi, or with the ability to show shortcut links right in the home screen, and more…
